Why would you have a tooth pulled? Severe decay, a fractured tooth, or one that has an infection that has rendered the tooth unable to benefit from root canal therapy are all common reasons. Unfortunately, even if you take excellent care of your teeth, you could still end up losing one. An accident or injury can dislodge a tooth or result in it coming completely loose from its socket. One thing is certain: when you have a severe toothache, and there is no way to alleviate it through other methods, our Valley Stream extractions will be a necessity. You will be given local anesthesia to ensure that you are sufficiently numb. Because of this, you will feel pressure, but no pain as the tooth is removed. Stitches may be needed afterward to seal the area where the incision was made. Some bleeding is common after oral surgery, and you will be given gauze to stem it. We will provide you with detailed instructions to follow during the first 24 hours to promote maximum healing. Among them are eating a soft diet and rinsing frequently with warm salt water. To deal with any discomfort and swelling, take over-the-counter pain medication and hold an ice pack on the outside of your mouth near where the tooth was removed.
