Extractions in Valley Stream

Tooth pain won’t always mean that the tooth has to be removed, but when it is beyond repair with a crown or through root canal treatment, our Valley Stream extractions may be the only option remaining. Here at Contemporary Dental Implant Centre, we will take out a tooth that is not viable, but we can also replace it with a new prosthetic one that will mimic all of its best qualities.

Valley Stream Extractions

Certainly, when you take good care of your teeth by brushing twice per day and flossing before bed, limiting your intake of sugar, and having a complete dental exam every six months, the chances of needing our Valley Stream extractions will be far less. You never know, however, when a cracked or fractured tooth, or simply the effects of decay or an untreatable infection will arise. And you can be assured that every effort is made to be certain that you will be comfortable during the procedure. You will be numbed with local anesthesia. Removing the tooth requires cutting the gums to gain access to the root.

It is possible that the tooth will have to be taken out in pieces, but if so, it is for the sake of efficiency. It will have no negative effect on your comfort level or your recovery. Stitches are sometimes required after our Valley Stream extractions. You should maintain a diet of soft foods for at least the first 24 hours. Rinse frequently with warm salt water. Take over-the-counter pain relievers and hold an ice pack to your face to manage any discomfort or swelling once the anesthesia wears off. You should also avoid physical exertion until the next day.

In addition to performing the removal of the tooth expertly, our oral surgeon can also place the post for a dental implant as part of the same procedure in many cases. When you have tooth pain, call us to arrange a prompt appointment.
