Massapequa Park Teeth Replacement

A traditional implant is done in three basic stages. First, a titanium post is placed in your jaw surgically. This post replaces the missing tooth’s root, something that is unique to implant restorations. It’s an important aspect because the post not only provides a stable and reliable foundation for our Massapequa Park teeth replacement, but also preserves your bone and gum tissue and maintains your normal facial contours. Over the course of several months, your jaw bone grows around the post, eventually fusing with it. The second part is when our dentist adds an anchor. This is designed to provide additional support for your implant. Finally, a tooth-colored crown is placed on top of the post and, held in position by the anchor, is cemented for a permanent fit. You now have a replacement for your tooth that looks, feels, and performs like your natural one.

Mini implants are one of the advancements that have come along in dental implant technology, and for which we are proud to be on the cutting edge of implementing. With mini implants, the process is even simpler, easier, and more efficient. The teeth themselves are not mini. They are full size. The mini part refers to a method of placing the post without any cutting or stitching. Not everyone will be a good candidate for these, but a simple consultation and exam will allow us to determine if they are right for you. Other advantages of mini implants are if you were previously unable to qualify to get traditional implants due to your jaw bone not being thick and strong enough, or because the cost was too high. The posts are smaller and can be put in without any incision. Traditional implants would require bone grafting if your jaw bone was not judged to be able to hold the post. You can eliminate that with mini implants. It’s just another way that we help you, our valued patient, with our Massapequa Park teeth replacement.
