Madison Avenue Tooth Extraction

Tooth Extraction on Madison Ave

When a tooth is missing or subject to a Madison Avenue tooth extraction by our Contemporary Dental Implant Centre the preferred method of replacing it is through a dental implant, which surgically places a titanium anchor within the jawbone at the site of the missing tooth. The anchor will eventually bond with the bone to form one strong root for the replacement tooth. The dental implant will be topped off by a porcelain crown to complete the new tooth. There is one prerequisite to this method of tooth replacement, there has to be enough bone material present at the implant site to support the implant.

Madison Avenue Tooth Extraction

Over time the jaw bone at the site of a missing tooth atrophies or is reabsorbed, the longer the period of time that the tooth has been missing or since a Madison Avenue tooth extraction has been performed the less bone there is available to support the implant. Where there is not enough bone our doctors will often use a bone graft to supplement the available bone and to stimulate the growth of new bone. The bone grafts can add just a little extra bone material to support an implant or can be major bone grafts that add much more bone material in order to repair major jaw deficits that are due to disease or traumatic injury. The bone material for grafts is either taken from the patient’s neighboring jaw areas or the hips, tibia or leg. Bone material sourced from tissue banks that have been harvested from cadavers and then cleaned can also be used.

Madison Avenue tooth extractions of the upper teeth require dental implants that will come up against the maxillary sinuses, which have thin walls that often cannot support implants. The solution is a sinus graft where our doctor will enter the sinus cavity from where the missing tooth used to be and place donor bone in to support the implant. In severe cases the jaw ridge needs to be expanded and our doctors will use grafts to aid in reshaping the ridgeline. Make an appointment with our practice to see if dental implants are right for replacing your missing teeth.
