The procedure itself is very simple. Our Lincoln Square dentist surgically places the implant into your jawbone. A small post is attached to it, which protrudes through the gums. This is the anchor that will soon hold the artificial tooth. This anchor is very durable and strong, providing lasting strength. Implants do not need root canals or fillings for the lifetime of the implant. The implants are given a healing period of two to four months, at which time the patient will need to eat soft foods to protect the implant site. We’ll design the final final denture or bridgework, then once the site is healed, place the teeth replacements over the implant sites. This entire procedure takes a few months, although we do have same day teeth restoration and implant procedures.
