Standard implants are done in three basic stages. It begins with the surgical placement into your jaw of the titanium post that replaces your natural tooth root. For the next few months, your jaw bone will grow around the post. When it fuses with the post, stage one is complete. A small healing collar is then added to the post, which will also serve to hold the tooth portion of the implant. You will then be measured for a tooth-colored crown that will be fashioned to fit on the top of the post, and cemented to it.
